Things to do, places to see in Bar

If you’re about to spend your summer vacation here, you’ve made a right decision, as Bar is one of the sunniest places in Europe, with over 270 sunny days per year. Surrounded with mountains, it lies on the coast of Adriatic sea, but is also near the Shkoder lake, the biggest lake in the Balkans and Southern Europe. From Bar you can go and visit the Montenegrin side of the lake.

Whether you want to see one of the oldest olive trees in the world, The Old Olive of Mirovica, more than 2.000 years old (and it still bears fruit!), take a walk in the old town with two fortresses, or just relax and sunbathe at stony or sandy beaches, Bar is a place where you can have it all at very affordable prices. Just across the sea is the italian city Bari. If you wish, a ferry can get you there.

If you’re in for sight seeing, be sure to visit the old town, which was built in the 6th century A.D. by the Byzantine emperor Justinian the Great. Don’t miss the golden-domed Church of St. John Vladimir, the second biggest temple in Montenegro. There is also The Palace of King Nikola Petrovic, a historical building from the 19th century, which will cost you only €1 to visit and see folk costumes, old royal furniture, and a ship wreckage which was dug out from the sea.

You can ask our drivers about this, as they can be your chaperones as well.
